What to Do When a Book Gets Wet? Try Freezing It
Spilled water on a book, got caught in the rain, or accidentally dropped a manga in water? Don't assume the book has to be thrown away. There is a simple method you may not have tried: putting the book in the freezer.
Don't Try to Dry a Wet Book Right Away
If a book gets wet, the first thing to do is remove the excess water. Use a microfiber cloth or tissue to gently blot the water from the book. Don't rub too hard, as wet paper can be damaged more easily. After blotting the excess water, you don't need to try to dry the book completely yet.
Put It in a Bag and Freeze It
The interesting part is to put the book in a resealable bag and place it in the freezer. If the book is very wet, you can place something heavy on top of it, such as a plastic food container, to help keep the book flatter while it is being frozen. Then leave it in the freezer for about one day. This method can be useful when a book is wet and you want to deal with the situation first, rather than leaving the book wet and allowing it to become more damaged.

What Should You Do After One Day?
Take the book out of the freezer and then remove it from the bag. After that, let the book return to a dry condition normally. The book may not return to 100% of its original condition, especially if it was heavily soaked. But dealing with it early is still better than leaving it wet for a long time. For people who collect books or manga, this is a useful method to know in case you ever spill water on a favorite book.
